You’ve probably seen them a few times, especially if you’ve ever been to or worked in a hospital, but… what are Hygienic Doors? Well, thankfully for you, here at LABEL UK we are experts in a wide range of doors, from simplistic automation, to specialized hospital and fire doors, and we’ll be able to give you the quick run down on hygienic doors.

What does the term “Hygienic” mean?

Hygienic refers to a state of maintained hygiene. Hygiene is defined as conditions or practices conducive to maintaining health and preventing disease, especially through cleanliness. This can mean anything from personal hygiene (hygiene of a person) and environmental hygiene (hygiene standards upheld in communal areas such as the workplace). But in terms of doors, what makes these specific doors so hygienic?

What makes hygienic doors hygienic?

Hygienic doors found in hospitals, medical fascilities and science labs are often found to be laced in special coatings or have anti-bacterial, anti-viral and/or anti-microbial properties. Hygienic doors, like hermetic doors, also have adequate seals to prevent dust and contaminated particles into a sterilised environment that needs to be kept as such for the needs of carrying out scientific experiments, biological tests, forensic tests and certain hospital wards that may be quarantined for the use of preventing the spread of deadly and contagious diseases, whilst those infected can receive treatment.

So hygienic doors do have a place and a purpose in modern society, but what applications can have, or require a hygienic door?

  • Hospital Wards
  • Quarantine Wards
  • Labs
  • Chemical/ biological storage
  • Bulk Food Preparation/ manufacture
  • Kitchens
  • Slaughterhouses

If you think your business requires some hygienic doors then you can take a look at our EVH set of automatic doors. They are known as “simple seal hospital doors” but, can be used in many of the applications listed above.
